Happy 7/10! Community Data Share on Concentrate Dosage

July 10th or 7/10 is the day to celebrate concentrates, because 7/10 is “OIL” upside down. Concentrates are a large and ever-expanding class of cannabis products that can be used in many ways but are typically dabbed or vaped. Read on to see the most popular dabbing “dosage” from our early analysis!

1000mg of sugar, a type of BHO or butane hash oil

Dabbing concentrates like rosin, wax, budder, shatter, etc. is a way to deliver high doses very quickly. Often the aromatics are also concentrated and this creates unique formulations as compared to smoking flower. But this concentration means that the overall size of the dose will be much, much smaller.

Here is a breakdown of the dose ranges for concentrates from our early analysis of our Real-World Evidence dataset (n = 4,591):

Most people consume 50mg or less of concentrates with fewer and fewer people in the increasing dose ranges. Many even consume less than 10mg per dab, sometimes called a “microdab.”

There is so much left to explore in the world of concentrates, including aging products (think like cured meats and cheeses or aged wine or bourbon). There are documented traditional methods of cannabis concentrate aging, specifically hash, that has yet to have its chemistry unveiled. This means we have only just begun to understand the unique benefits associated with concentrates and specific types of concentrates!
