The Science of Smokability

A 2+ year series of scientific experiments focusing on cultivation and processing metrics to produce the most pleasant smoking experience - a collaboration of the Network of Applied Pharmacognosy (NAP) and the Cannabis Research Coalition (CRC).

  • Cultivation & Post-Harvest

In Phase I of the Science of Smokability series, we tackled how relative humidity (and moisture content of the pre-rolls) affected the smokability. Our future phases include nutrients, flushing, and toxicant analysis.

  • The Smoke Machine

Our Cambustion smoke machine named "Ember" is a cutting-edge analytical tool that gives us a precise way to investigate many different aspects of the smoking process, including insights into the different chemical formulations present int he smoke.

  • Puff Topography

We are capturing the first and most comprehensive profile of the flow rate, volume, and interpuff intervals that make up the puff topography of cannabis consumers.
